WWE Smackdown Live 12/4/17 Review

wwe_smackdown_live_logo

Its Smackdown Live and time for the second half of the Superstar Shakeup, lets see who shows up.

-Right off the bat, Kevin Owens is here!…he’s actually dressed in a formal suit…welcome to the brand new Kevin Owens show…he says Smackdown now has a huge upgrade…he says it might confusing that he’s U.S champion even though he’s Canadian…he goes on to call Canada better than USA…if anyone has a problem then he’ll happily take them on…he’s here to be the new face of America.
-Baron Corbin comes out…says he’s sure Owens could beat most people but not Baron Corbin…mention him beating Ambrose and Ambrose beating Owens, so Corbin don’t see Owens as much of a problem…he’s owed a title match and wants Kevin Owens.
-Sami Zayn now comes out!…Owens says Zayn cannot be here…But Zayn is and Corbin says nobody cares.
-AJ Style enters the fray…says this is not the Kevin Owens show, it’s Smackdown Live and its not about the Underdog or the Lone Wolf but about him…the house that AJ Styles built and he is still here.
-Finally GM Daniel Bryan comes out…says the US title match at Payback still stands and whoevers wins that match comes to Smackdown Live, so even though the title can’t be defended tonight there will be a triple threat No.1 contenders match to face whoever wins the US Title at Payback!. So it’s AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn tonight! End Segment. Introduces two of the biggest acquisitions and sets up some potential feuds and main event that should be good.

Match 1: Randy Orton vs. Erik Rowan

Match doesn’t last long with Wyatt showing up on the screen just as Orton was setting up the RKO, Wyatt says he’ll be seeing Orton soon in the House of Horrors, when he’s gone and the lights come up Orton goes after Rowan outside the ring who hits with steel steps for the DQ and then full nelson slams him in the ring. a very throwaway segment to hype Orton and Wyatts title match.
Winner: Randy Orton(via DQ) NR

Match 2: Smackdown Tag Title Match -The Uso’s (c) vs. American Alpha

What a Hoot this match was, very action packed and thrilling, had some cool spots and Gable even hit a moonsault which I’ve never seen him do before. Just a great effort from both teams that went against the usual tag formula.
Winners: The Uso’s(via diving splash) ***3/4

-Shining stars run in from the crowd and beat up American Alpha, hitting Gable with a back cracker/Powerbomb combo that looked good. Hope this means they’ve dropped the whole Puerto Rico timeshare gimmick, could be a good way to re-establish themselves they definitely got a reaction for once.

Match 3: Mojo Rawley vs. Jinder Mahal

Guess you could call this a Wrestlemania Revenge match but it was Standard short TV match with not much to it. The Gronk is front row again watching on and throws a drink in Jinders face, letting Mojo get the win. Yep.
Winner: Mojo Rawley(via Hype Punch) NR

-Shane O’Mac is out to address the Smackdown Womens division…He invites the entire Womens division to come down to reveal who’s gonna be new…Naomi, Natalya, Carmella & Becky Lynch all come out…he congratulates Naomi on winning the title at ‘Mania…Ellsworth butts in and call Naomi a horrible champion and says everyone tunes in to see Carmella & Carmellsworth…Naomi tells Carmella to shut up her side-chick and Naomi asks Shane to carry on and reveal who the new addition is…he says a bunch of stuff to indicate it will be Charlotte, then reveals Tamina! HAHAHA!..He realises the crowd were expecting someone else and finally reveals Charlotte, just as expected. So that’s the Womens division, addition of Charlotte should make for some interesting matchups at least, not a fan of Tamina but she’s been gone a while so maybe she’s improved.

-They reveal both Sin Cara and Rusev are now drafted to Smackdown.

-Aiden English now comes out fresh from his partner Simon Gotch getting released…he sings that the spotlight is now on himĀ  and then gets interrupted by perfect 10 Tye Dillinger!

Match 4: Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English

Standard showcase match for Dillinger, enjoyed English’s stuff though.
winner: Tye Dillinger(via Tye Breaker) NR

-they show a video of Lana doing a cabaret dance around a chair and she’s apparently coming to Smackdown Live soon.

-Ziggler now in the ring…says everyone’s talking about the Superstar Shakeup but what about Dolph Ziggler…Spoiler alert he’s staying on Smackdown…claims it’s a show he built and made cool…says something about new toys and people getting sad and being left with him doing what he does best.
-But out comes Shinsuke Nakamura!…he stands in the ring and Ziggler asks ‘Can I help you’ and asks who exactly he thinks he is…crowd loudly chant Nakamura…Nakamura gets the mic and says he is Shinsuke Nakamura…Ziggle goes to kick him but Nakamura catches his foot and pushes him down and taunts, Ziggler is frustrated asks if he wants to go right now, but then decides to just runaway. Guess we got Nakamura’s first feud..cool beans.

Main event: Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn vs. AJ Styles

Really good main event here, lots of action some nice spots and near falls and an all around enjoyable time, great work from everyone and glad AJ won, would be happy to see him feuding with Kevin Owens and maybe have Zayn feud with Corbin too. good stuff.
Winner: AJ Styles(via Phenomenal forearm) ***3/4

-End Show.

So the whole point of this week was to establish everyone who is now on the roster and they did exactly that whilst also giving us to really good matches and setting up a couple potential feuds, got some interesting additions for sure. Thumbs up from me. ***1/4
