Sendai Girls at Korakuen Hall 2018 (19/4/18) Review

Sendaigirls2018

Been meaning to review a Sendai Girls show on here for ages but just never got around to it, well I’m finally doing one and I have heard a lot of good things about this show. So lets see how it goes!

Match 1 – Ami Sato vs. Manami

Solid opener to kick things off. Just some straight up lovely back and forth smooth grappling with a fair few pinning clutches and Sato getting the victory with a schoolboy. Had no idea Manami was 13 years old, but she’s certainly already doing great along with Sato who is 19.
Winner: Ami Sato (via schoolboy rollup) ***

Match 2 – Aiger & Sakura Hirota vs. KAORU & Solo Darling

This match was considerably clipped but what they show of it was pretty fun. It was basically a comedy match with some funny bits involving lollipops and a wooden board. At the end Aiger (who has an Onryo ghost gimmick) spits powder in KAORU’s face(which the the commentators refer to as ectoplasm) allowing Hirota to land a sunset flip and get the win.
Winners: Aiger/Hirota (via Ectoplasm/Sunset Flip) NR

Match 3 – Aja Kong, Cassandra Miyagi, Heidi Katrina & Sammii Jayne vs. Alex Lee, DASH Chisako, Hiroyo Matsumoto & Mio Momono

This match was also heavily clipped but seemed like a fun chaotic multi-woman tag. Cassandra is basically in it for the entirety of what they show and in the end she takes the fall after Chisako hits a hormone splash on her.
Winners: Lee/Chisako/Matsumoto/Momono (via Hormone splash) NR

Match 4 – Hana Kimura vs. Mika Iwata

Great little match between these two. Throughout it Kimura keeps catching Iwata in tough submissions and really wrenching them in, but Iwata refuses to quit and keeps coming back and hitting Kimura with some very stiff kicks and in the end it’s one harsh buzzsaw kick that finally secures the victory. Add in some other solid action and you’ve got a very enjoyable match.
Winner: Iwata (via Buzzsaw Kick) ****

Match 5 – Io Shirai vs. Meiko Satomura

Outstanding match as to be expected from two of the very best. Just some straight up great back and forth action that flowed excellently and had good energy. Both women go all out until Satomura hits a scorpio rising but is unable to capitalise as the bell rings for the 20 minute time limit draw. Tremendous effort from both.
No Winner: Time Limit Draw ****1/2

Main Event – Senda Girls World Title Match: Chihiro Hashimoto (c) vs. Ayako Hamada

Another awesome match to end the show. Just more straight up great back and forth action that included some good matt grappling early on and then fair amount of big manoeuvres with some nice near-falls and a terrific atmosphere. In the end though Hamada hits a the AP Cross to get the victory and become the new champion.
Winner: Hamada (via AP Cross) ****1/4

Well this certainly is indeed a really good show with the 3 main matches having some top notch wrestling on display and definitely worth checking out. I really need to keep up more with my Joshi watching.

Thanks for reading.
